Statement on Participation in the Work of the
Bibliographic Control Committee

The Committee welcomes participation in the work of the Bibliographic Control Committee. All MLA members are encouraged to communicate issues of concern relating to the bibliographic control of music materials to the Committee or the appropriate Subcommittee by writing to the chair, attending the annual meeting and participating in our discussions. Usually it is possible to include on the agenda topics suggested in advance and to permit comments from observers. The well articulated statement of a problem is an invaluable contribution. Working groups are often formed to address specific matters and are comprised of persons who have expressed interest in a question. When vacancies occur on a subcommittee, new members are selected from persons who have actively participated in recent work or exhibited interest in the group. We hope these comments help MLA members to each contribute their own knowledge and experience to our common task in the bibliographic control of music.
